Elbow

The elbow joint is made up of three bones; the humerous or upper arm bone, the paired radius and the ulna. The biceps or upper arm muscles and the triceps or lower arm muscles are responsible for moving the elbow hinge. Elbow injuries are not only common with sports such as tennis, golf, mountain climbing but any activity that requires repetitive arm movement.

The most common injuries to elbows include:

  • Lateral Epicondylitis commonly known as Tennis Elbow
  • Medial Epicondylitis commonly known as Golfer’s Elbow
  • Elbow Tendonitis
  • Olecranon Bursitis
  • Radial Tunnel Syndrome

Basil Besh, M.D. is a board certified, fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon with over 11 years of experience treating elbow injuries.

Some of the treatments for elbow injuries include elbow stretches, medication, cortisone injections and/or physical therapy. If surgery is necessary in the treatment of elbow pain and injuries, a minimally invasive procedure may be recommended.
